Remember Me By...

August 2011 Randomness

Summer Sales Aug 2011

Mid-July Ammon & Aaron opened up a Sno Cone Shack on the corner in our neighborhood. With Kaleb's help they made this awesome banner and named their shack "Sno Con Extreme"!!
Charging .50cents per sno cone and with all the toppings any kid in the summer could dream of the boys ended up making $35 in 2 hours! The MOST fun was talking with all the friends that stopped by! It was a madhouse and there was a big line with all the customers! Friends hung out and brought more friends and kids. It was so much fun!

Our little entrepreneur, Asher, saw the FUN and the success and wanted to do a Snow Cone Shack too. BUT, as I explained to him, snow cones are very difficult for four year olds to make so he came up with an Otter Pop stand that he wanted to call the
"Otter Pop Xtreme!". So I made the sign and he and Michael colored it.

He and Michael set up shop on the same corner as their brothers and sold helium balloons (using the tank leftover from Ammon's bday party) and Otter Pops for .25cents each!
They made $20 in an hour and a half!
Daddy was their best customer and left a tip for the cutest boys he EVER did see selling!!

Highland Splash Pad Aug 2011

Michael and Preston and Chandler had a blast!! These guys have so much fun together no matter where we are but ESPECIALLY when we're doing fun things!

Genevieve preferred to hang out with me in the shade and dig through our swim bag (that had all sorts of surprises in it from all the days we spent at Cowabunga Bay!)

Growing and Changing Genevieve Aug 2011

Genevieve has so much personality. We still don't know what to think of her! We just know we love her!

Wearing Grammy's rollers & Auntie Jennifer's cool girl glasses...

lounging at our stake activity eating popcorn, climbing the slide (she climbs UP them equally as much as she slides down them!)

Eating a cookie (she loves her sweets!), and being patriotic! (SHE LOVES loves loves waving the American flag!) On Sept 11, we were at a stake conference and I had an American Flag in my church bag. She was playing with it and when we all stood to sing the "America the Beautiful" she stood on her chair and waved that flag with her whole heart! lol-

Food! August 2011

In addition to Eric making loads of JAM from berry picking,
we HAD to throw a berry party & invite friends over to share in all the berry deliciousness from all the berries we picked!
Menu: Chocolate Pavlovas with fresh Raspberries on top,
Vanilla Ice Cream with berries, and piles of fresh berries!

Frrrrrrozen Hot Chocolate with some Crio Bru mixed in. A new summer treat!

Eggs Benedict (my first time eating them) with roasted tomatoes, applewood bacon, and freshly made hollandaise sauce. A Williams Sonoma recipe.
Our taste buds wanted to jump off our tongues onto this plate it was that good...
This little diddy started a whole monthly Breakfast Club
where we try out breakfast recipes on our friends...

Berry Picking Day Aug 2011

Eric made good friends with this Berry Farmer. He realized Eric knew more about blackberries than he did and invited him speak at the annual Berry Convention!

I love this gorgeous day picture of Violet on Papa's shoulders. What a princess!
And this priceless capture of Michael digging deep into the Berry Bush for the BEST Berries!! Eric taught him well!

Even Genevieve had fun.
We ate and ate and ate berries afterward 'til we were stuffed!
We got to pick flowers 'til our arms were full of them
& bought some Raspberry Honey to take home with us.
Eric has visited a few times this summer but this time we invited
our family & friends to join us; which they did!
Thanks for coming y'all!

Camping Pioneer Weekend 7/24/11

Man! We thought we were out of luck finding a camping spot on Pioneer Weekend... then to our surprise (and because Eric was keeping his eyes on the lookout on his run) we came across Willow Park with room for ALL the Durtschi family to camp!

Ammon needed to learn how to build a fire out of lint so Eric dilligently taught him.
Genevieve loves her Madee!

We had all sorts of fun playing ball, roasting marshmallows, playing in the sprinkler, (getting eaten by mosquitos...not!), telling stories, playing, biking, going for walks, and just hanging out.

MichaelMan going SUPER fast on his new bike!

3 little monkeys climbing in a tree...

The coup d'etat was the next morning when we got to Bridge Jump into the Jordan River! eric showed everyone how it was REALLY done (of course we didn't let anyone else go from way up high) and the kids and cousins felt super proud and tough for having jumped! Especially since there was a little bit of a current. Eric acted as the Lifeguard for the family but the older boys needed NO help! They were strong swimmers!

Michael and Aaron being so brave and LOVING IT!

Ammon and Asher having a BLAST!
And of course, even I jumped a few times! It's one of mine and Eric's favorite past times as teens.
Happy Pioneer Weekend Everyone!!
