Our Home

For those of you who haven't come to visit yet (the door is still open!) this is our home here in Lehi and the fun view from our house (the flight park).

While Harvey was here visiting, we went up to the flight park to get a better look at the hang gliders and parachuters. There were SO many that day! Unfortunately, we had an occurence that still burns in my mind. :( I snapped the below picture and a few moments later as we were watching the peaceful gliding- the glider in the picture ran into the yellow parachuter on the left nearest us. The glider hit the side of the mountain and we were the only ones with our phone on us. So I called 911. All the parachuters/gliders instantly came down off the mountain and everyone ran to the glider's aid. After calling 911 there was a man that was going hysterical about the situation. Some people were trying to calm him down while others were attending to the glider. Most of them were in the medical field so they had things under control but they needed water for the hysterical guy and Karina just happened to have a water bottle in her hand and she gave it to the guy. We then went to the turn at the road and waited for the ambulance and directed them where to go. We then said a prayer together with our little family. We felt so happy that we could help but just had the worst feeling with us all day. We knew from the feeling on the hill (and then the next day from the news) that the glider had died on impact. It was so strange to be there when it happened because it all happened so quickly.
The whole experience reminded me that life is way too short, very fragile, and that we can move on to the next life at any moment. I am grateful for every day I get to live and want to make the most of every moment. Our prayers are with that glider's family.
