Aaron's 8th Bday!

Aaron's best friend cousin, Kaleb's birthday is exactly ONE month after his. They decided to have a joint birthday SHARK PARTY!

The invitations set our scene... BEWARE (of having a really great time!!)

Thank you to Karina & Aesha for making this cake! Professional!!

Aaron and Kaleb got their own personalized drinks! Aaron's was blue and had pictures of him growing up from a baby to now that we printed and glued onto the Jones bottles and Kaleb got white and black bottles with pics of him too! This was their FAVORITE touch! They loved seeing what picture/bottle each person chose to drink from and got a kick out of telling guests the memories associated with the pictures.

Since they are both turning 8, I told them to choose a theme that had to do with water so that we could remember the most important part of them turning 8: their Baptism! Of course Aaron was ALL boy when he chose Shark theme but we all remembered what the underlying theme was. ;p With the help of my friend Bethany, we made the living room into an underwater sea complete with coral, anemones, and jelly fish...

The guests had a blast making these personal aquariums...

And especially loved that we had shark biten gingerbread men to decorate! (Harvey gave Aaron a set of Gingerbread cookie cutters that have built in bites taken out of them. Arms, legs, & heads were missing and they had so much fun decorating these. Aaron even impaled his headless surfer with a beach umbrella! yipes! lol-
The biggest hits of the day (that I had NOT planned into the party) were when Eric showed his fresh collar bone surgery scar stitches on his shoulder and said he had just gotten attacked by a shark that tried to rip his arm off! He had a whole hilarious story & the boys looked at the scar in amazement and wanted to believe his sillyness...but knew better!!

Uncle Russ brought some REAL shark teeth for Kaleb to hand out to the guests. This topped all the games, prizes, treats... everything! The best cherry on top that took the cake! The boys went bonkers over these real teeth and cherished them like gold.

We had a bubble machine, played freeze dance (since Aaron & Kaleb love dancing so much), had "Shark Tale" playing in back ground, played several rounds of "Ship Wreck" (a NEW favorite of theirs!), made aquariums, decorated & ate cookies & treats, played "Pass the Shark" and had a double candle blowing out! Happy Birthday to our Aaron! We love you so much and adore the sweetness, tenderness, creativity, involvement, snuggles, and energy you bring into our family! You are a hoot to be around and are sincere to the core.

Party aftermath included seeing what could fly (& what couldn't) on the big black helium balloons, calculating how many of those balloons it would take to lift each of us up, spinning rides from Grammy, and lots of gumball chewing!
